In the not-so-sleepy town of Sunol, once lived the only dog mayor in the good country of America. His name was Bosco Ramos.

Bosco, as he was called by the residents of Sunol, was the mayor since 1981, through a mock election. He had beat two candidates during that election, and through that; his popularity soared. But who was Bosco Ramos really?

This black Labrador mix and Rottweiler was the pet of the Stillman family in town. Always to be found in the local bars, looking for treats and rubs from people and visitors; his status slowly soon rose to that of the town mascot. His stories of helping people go home when they were too drunk to walk straight helped with his reputation.

The 1981 elections were a no-brainer. After the locals had decided that the dog should give it a go as the mayor, the elections were held, votes were counted, and the winner was proclaimed. Bosco had won, and had now become the official mayor of Sunol, California.

Bosco was probably "the best dog mayor this town ever had". Not that they had any other dog mayors after that. The dog was very 'faithful to his duties, had protected the town well, and had seen it at its best and at its worst.'

Bosco's career was of controversy as well. When the Chinese found out about this, they had immediately criticized America for 'mocking the concept of democracy'. The town had rallied at that, with Bosco in the forefront. He was a symbol of democracy and freedom, according to resident Solveig Shearer.

The mayor died peacefully in his sleep, 1994. In honor of him, the town had erected a bronze statue near the post office under the clock. If you pass by the town of Sunol, don't forget to pay your respects to the statue of the well-loved dog Mayor, Bosco Ramos.
